Through the aether, Natuah felt a Moon Dragon on the hunt. It had been decades since she dined on one. Her mouth watered as she remembered how the flesh was light, juicy, and lean. She glided easily across the plane anticipating the hunt. The land was dirty white with the Incontouch River streaming between a small cluster of regions. She followed the branch that streamed to Laoqu.
Adruqu waited just outside the high mountain ridge. She knew Natuah was coming, and she couldn't allow that -- not yet at least. She needed her children to grow further.
Natuah spotted Adruqu, the Mother Goddess, and stopped several hundred meters from her. "I am here to feast -- mostly."
Adruqu floated to Natuah's eye level.
The Nova Dragon was bright white with black eyes. Its size was immense. She stood 100 meters high with a wing span of 300 meters. Her chest was muscled to handle the enormous wings. Large massive canine teeth protruded from a long snout. "Goddess, a pleasure to be greeted."
Adruqu said, "Natuah, you shall not pass -- for now."
Natuah laughed. It was rich and deep. "I am hungry."
"Then feast on another prey."
"I like Moon meat."
"It has already been killed."
Natuah felt disappointed. "Pity. Then I'll dine on hundreds of bugs."
"Not today." Then Adruqu said, "You want to challenge me?"
"For food? Tasty food? Abundance of food? Yes!" Natuah replied. She was fast. Her body propelled explosively toward Adruqu. Her target. The Goddess. The Maker of all.
Adruqu laughed, such a large target she thought.
Natuah was powerful, but not experienced. She took her prey down by brute force. Typically concussioning them.
Adruqu moved sideways.
Natuah stopped, turned around, and got Adruqu's foot in her face. Even though Natuah was nearly a hundred times larger Adruqu was more powerful.
"This is my world!' Adruqu shouted. "No one commands above me."
Natuah slammed into the plane, casting chunks of land into the air.
Adruqu floated to the surface and walked up to a prone Natuah. She said in a soft voice that reached Natuah's ear. "You shall not pass. Not today."
Natuah dazed, understood. She rose up. "When?"
"Go to the Region of Lizards and rule over them. Command them as the conqueror. When you have done that I will allow you to pass. As Goddess, you have my word."
Natuah paused and thought a moment. "I will command them. And I will return with thirst in my heart and hunger in my stomach."
Adruqu nodded as Natuah turned, lifted into the sky with a flap of her wings, and headed to the Region of Lizards, guided by a path implanted by the Goddess, Maker of All. Dinosaurs who knew nothing of Dragons was her destination. They would soon learn what it meant to be dominated by a Nova Dragon - the Apex of the food chain.
