Kajana stood outside a large three-story stone building. It was their new base and home. There was a large multi-acre lot in the back, which she planned on turning into farmland. The building had indoor plumbing with running water from a nearby stream and an underground aquifer. There were four rooms on the top floor, five on the second floor, each with a flushable toilet and sink, and the living area, dining, kitchen, and workshop with a hearth on the first floor. There was an attached bathhouse in the back. The basement was also a workshop and storage area. She decided to stay and adventure for a while. Miluna handled everything in record time. It was as if she knew she was going to stay.
Miluna walked up next to her. "You love it don't you?"
Kajana didn't turn around. "It'll do." Then she smiled. "You planned this in advance didn't you?"
Miluna blinked several times and feigned ignorance.
"No matter, you picked your room?"
Miluna said, "Of course, it's yours," and laughed.
Kajana laughed, too. "Um, no. You'll never let me sleep if we share a room."
Miluna pouted. "You want Bita in your bed."
Kajana turned and stared Miluna in the eye. "Milu --"
She finished, "-- She'd never get any sleep," Lifted herself up on her tiptoes and gave Kajana a light kiss on the cheek. "She gets her own room too. I know. Maybe I can share a room with her." Before Kajana had a chance to speak, Miluna said, "That wouldn't work either. Nobody would get any sleep."
Kajana replied, "Is that all you think of?"
Miluna nodded. She smiled, "Oh, Basco then."
"You have no shame, girl."
Miluna walked to the door. "True, but now that we are together again, I can't help but tease you." Her smile was wide.
Kajana followed Miluna into the living area.
Basco, Plono, Hallona, and Bita were seated around the large L-shaped sofa. The morning was cold and a fire was roaring in the large fireplace.
Kajana and Miluna sat down.
Miluna said with a light laugh, "I see we are all comfortable.
Basco had a large stein of ale in his hand. He took a sip. "Yes, indeed. This is the first time in years since we've had a permanent base and home. Why not enjoy when life is short." He took a sip.
Miluna walked over and looked into his stein. "It's almost all gone."
Basco laughed and finished it. "Now it is."
Miluna laughed and punched him in the shoulder. "I'll get you another and get one for myself." She rose, "Anyone else?"
Hallona said, "I know Basco drinks ale like a fish. You, too?"
"I took the week off for the move, so I'm on vacation. And when on vacation, you drink like you're at work." Her laughter faded into the kitchen.
